As you are all aware the political situation in Thailand has changed quite drastically in the last few days and there is still no certainty as to what will happen next. We are vigilantly monitoring the situation as to provide an updated and truthful picture of what is happening on the ground. Our priority is the safety and wellbeing of our community and visitors in Chiang Mai.
The way things currently stand (and have stood since the beginning of the protests), Chiang Mai and the north of Thailand remain unaffected by any political disruptions. It is business as usual, running climbing courses, adventuring with student groups at Crazy Horse Buttress, selling gear at our shop and bouldering in the gym.
Four of our staff members flew from Chiang Mai to Bangkok this morning for a work related trip and reported no signs of unusual activity at the airports. We don’t underestimate the significance of what is going on but are also weary that foreign media can sometimes paint a picture that does not reflect what is felt locally by those on the ground.
We advise all to exercise a high level of caution while moving throughout the country and skip Bangkok — come directly to Chiang Mai! We recommend that everyone stay up to date on travel alerts as they are released.
We are committed to providing the highest quality of service and safety in all areas of our company. Please feel free to contact us with questions and we will remain proactive in our communication to you.
Looking forward to adventuring with you soon!
