When we started CMRCA nearly 19 years ago, we set out to build a business that helped to provide a space for the small community of climbers and adventurers who wanted to share in the outdoor adventure life. It is why we built a climbing wall, a retail store and provided climber transportation to the crag. We could not be more excited today as we look back at the small climbing community 19 years ago and how strong it has become. Climbing, caving, trail running, mountain biking and more have become part of the fabric of Chiang Mai and are attracting newcomers every day.
As Covid dealt a heavy blow to the community and our business we were forced to slim down our operation. We know that getting into adventure sports can be challenging. It can be intimidating to learn the necessary skills and expensive to buy the gear needed to participate safely. We see the need for a place where adventure enthusiasts can easily access quality used gear. As adventurers ourselves, we have been around long enough to know that we often end up with gear we don’t use or don’t need. We have hosted our annual Gear Swaps for many years and we realized why wait for a one off event. We have a space, a community and a dedicated team of adventure enthusiasts.
Today we are excited to announce the CMRCA Outdoor Gear Consignment Store. The idea was inspired by IME in Salt Lake City. IME is run by climbers for climbers and while they sell new gear, they also have an awesome consignment store where climbers can sell their old gear and look for good deals on another piece of used gear and we have used the store ourselves.
The CMRCA Outdoor Gear Consignment Store is simple. If you have used gear in fairly good condition, bring it to CMRCA, set a price and we will promote it online and sell it in the store for you. Once a month you get a bank transfer for the items you sold less a commission for the administration of the sale. You can sell anything as long as it is for an adventure pursuit: climbing, caving, trail running, cycling, hiking, camping, etc. The store is open every day and we will share regular posts online highlighting gear available in the store.
To sell your gear, visit our registration page and fill out the form. Agree to the Terms & Conditions. Then mail or drop your gear off at CMRCA and we will find a new home for your gear with someone who needs it all while you head out for your next adventure.
