You may be reading in the news that the Bangkok airport is closed due to flooding. We just want to clarify for the climbing community that Bangkok has two airports and Don Muang — the older, smaller airport that handles mostly domestic flights — is the one that is closed. Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok’s major international hub, is unaffected by the floods and still sending dozens of flights per day north to Chiang Mai.
The flooding peaked here about three weeks ago, and we are now enjoying the brisk mornings and clear skies of “cold” season (it got down to 21 C last night… bundle up!). As you can see from the pictures below (from hikes and rides we’ve taken in the last couple weeks), now is a great time to visit Thailand — people will be extra grateful for your business, and you’ll get to enjoy one of the coolest, greenest cold seasons we’ve had in a long time.
We are excited to see you in Chiang Mai! Check out our Facebook and Twitter pages for up-to-date info about what is happening in the climbing community.
Climb on…
