So you just purchased your first rope and you are itching to get out to the crag to test it out. The last thing you want is a rope that tangles and knots up becuase it hasn’t been opened properly. When ropes are new, it is necessary to properly uncoil the rope before using it in a climbing session to help prevent tangles and to loosen twists.
