The annual Crag Cleanup at Crazy Horse has returned after a five-year hiatus due to the pandemic.
The 15th Annual Crag Cleanup on Sunday, December 17, 2023, was a huge success thanks to all of the volunteers. With representation from Thailand and abroad, over 50 members of our community came together to give back to Crazy Horse.
The event opened with a discussion about sustainability at the crag and brief message from the Chiang Mai business council and local officials who came to support the event.
The community then split into groups to begin working. Projects included clearing trails, securing hand rails, and collecting trash.
After working hard to clean the crag in the morning, participants were rewarded with a free, locally-prepared lunch and an afternoon of climbing. Our staff helped set routes and belay for beginners, so climbers of all level were able to join the fun.
It was a successful day of crag maintenance and community bonding, but the work is not done. Keeping the crag clean and safe requires all of our help. Each time we visit the crag, we must do our part to maintain the climbing environment.
